Bazar los Frailes was born in Villa de los Frailes and has prospered to become a pillar of the local community and a magnet for visitors from San Miguel de Allende and its surroundings. Every Saturday morning, the Parque de los Enamorados transforms into a bustling space of exchange, music, joy and life, where tempting aromas and lively talk fill the air.
The history began in 2019, when Chinaberry Farm delivered every Saturday at the Parque de los Enamorados vegetables that had previously been requested by neighbors. Margarita Hernández joined at the time to accompany a friend who sold blueberries, but soon she herself began to make delicious homemade jams. The Covid pandemic attracted more residents interested in supporting each other and finding hard-to-get products elsewhere. The bazar became a crucial meeting point, not only to buy and sell, but also to combat isolation.
By early 2021, Livi Rodríguez and Martha Zavala had the idea of forming a small market in the colony. They formalized and consolidated the bazar as a community institution. The success of the bazar is largely due to the dedication of the vendors themselves and of neighbors like Frank and Sandy Hudson, who together have turned this space into something more than a market: a reflection of the warmth and hospitality of Villa de los Frailes. Livi tells us, proud: "The market has become a great success, even with a waiting list of people who want to participate".
To this day, Bazar los Frailes not only offers fresh and artisanal products, but also represents a place where stories intertwine, friendships are formed, and the community is strengthened. It is a living reminder of how collective effort can transform a simple marketplace into a vibrant and welcoming community living center. We invite you to immerse yourself in its unique charm: know it and fall in love!
