An exciting educational project is underway for elementary school students in the small town of Montecillo de la Milpa, located 3 miles north of Atotonilco near Mama Mia Campestre. Under the leadership of Silvia Rodriguez, new classrooms are being built to provide local children with opportunities for hands-on learning and skills that will enrich their education and inspire their growth. This initiative started with a simple yet powerful idea: to give every child in the community access to quality learning experiences that go beyond the standard curriculum. Over the past year, significant progress has been made. Classroom space has been secured, parents and teachers have been engaged, and enthusiasm continues to grow.
Currently, the children of Montecillo have very limited access to resources such as computers, English language classes, or books that could open new doors for their future. This new learning center aims to address these gaps and provide opportunities for students to dream big and achieve their goals.
To support the project, the community is hosting Sunday Dinners each week from 3 PM to 6 PM. These events are a delightful way to connect with others while contributing to a meaningful cause. The menu features rotating specialties prepared by professional Chef Edwin Alexander, including roasted chicken, quiches, Silvia’s Veracruzana fish, hearty soups, fresh salads, savory appetizers, and decadent homemade desserts by Claudine David of Petit Biscuit.
Proceeds from these dinners go directly toward funding the new classrooms and educational materials. For directions, visit “The Consignment Shop Warehouse” on Google Maps.
