Introducing Dr. Goerdt Abel: A global writer

Dr. Goerdt Abel was born in a small town in the Odenwald, a beautiful forested area, south of Frankfurt. Although his success as an award-winning author came later in life, his first experience with publishing came when he wrote his thesis paper for his PhD on “Long Range Planning for Business”. 

His writing began with his love of putting pen to paper. As he got older, his children encouraged him to write a book about his family history. This began his "unofficial" start to a writing career as he felt more and more compelled to write about the stories that shape our lives.

After this taste, he developed a passion for writing and decided to pursue it further. The next book he wrote was called “Steinach und die Wahrheiten” which describes the fascinating period in history during the unification of the two German countries and its political and business impact. This story focuses specifically on the actions undertaken by Mr. Kohl, an incorrect exchange rate, and the ramifications for East Germany and its economic development. Following on from this, his latest work describes a similar tale but on a more global scale.

It spans from Ancient Egypt to the modern day, and its lessons are as valuable today as they were 2000 years ago. How do the actions of politicians affect the lay people? How are governmental organizations formed? How do we govern ourselves? His book uncovers these questions and more and offers solutions for how we can improve political leadership for years to come. 

Life took him to many places and allowed him to meet influential people along the way. Every turn has added to the richness of his latest book: “‘For They Don’t Know What They Are Doing: Qualifications of Politicians Worldwide” as it is called in English. 

When his wife passed away in early 2020, he chose to move back to Vienna permanently. Vienna was a city he had enjoyed immensely as a student and is where he finalized his latest book, which is now available in three languages - English, German, and Spanish - and where he is planning for projects to come.

Through Casa Europa Mexico, we are pleased to extend a cordial invitation to the presentation of Dr. Goerdt Abel's most recent book, entitled “...Pues no saben lo que hacen”. This event will take place on November 5th, with two presentations scheduled at 11:30 am and 5:30 pm, at Casa Europa Mexico, located at Calle San Francisco #23, in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. Presentation will be in Spanish.
