When Riccardo and Donnie Simeone lived in Florence, they frequented a neighborhood trattoria with good food served at a large communal table, where everyone sat together. It was a wonderful way to make new friends!
When they moved to a vineyard outside of Florence, Riccardo became good friends with the owner and learned all about wines. They organized feasts for the guests with imported lobster and fine wines. When the Simeones moved to San Miguel, Riccardo thought that something similar would be welcome here. He created his San Miguel Wine Tasting Society featuring wine and food pairings, bringing people together at local restaurants for multi-course dinners and as many wines to accompany the meal.
“So far, we have had nothing but positive comments from our diners about meeting new friends and engaging in interesting conversations while dining at some of the most interesting places in San Miguel and enjoying a wine-paired menu,” said Simone. If you have not had this lovely communal experience, join Riccardo Simeone on Christmas Eve when Denver’s Restaurant will host a typical Italian Christmas meal: A three course dinner consisting of 7 different types of seafood, four varieties of wine, and dessert. Whether you come with a group of friends, your partner, or solo, you will enjoy the camaraderie and cheer of a large communal meal, and fabulous food and wine!
In 2025 watch for more Wine Tasting Society dinners featuring ‘Natural Wines’. As Simone said, “The major characteristics of natural wines is that the grapes are hand-picked from sustainable organic vineyards with no pesticides, and are aged 9 months in clay amphorae, underground to maintain a constant temperature. These wines are unfiltered with no yeast, sulfites or other additives. These special productions are very unique and tend to be expensive because they are not mass produced rather produced by small vineyards.
